Grateful Strings is the solo project of multi-instrumentalist and producer Sam Ekstrom, with a little help from his friends. Ekstrom plays shows across Michigan using original backing tracks, featuring cover songs and originals.

Ekstrom cites the following as influences: Jerry Garcia, Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix, Billy Strings, Robert Hunter, Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, Pretty Lights, Phish, Stick Figure, Bill Monroe, Emancipator, Neil Young, Willie Nelson, John Hartford, Hank Williams, Led Zeppelin and many others.
